Why choose an OxBright Internship?
At OxBright, we know that it’s difficult to make an informed decision about your future career path without trying it out for yourself. But all too often, internships for high school students consist of little more than making tea and observing working life from a distance. And they often rely on limited schemes or exclusive personal connections.
With a 1-month OxBright Internship, you’ll have the opportunity to make a genuine contribution to a project, developing skills and valuable experience along the way. You’ll be supported throughout by an expert mentor, who will help you to make the most of the opportunity.
You’ll also be able to choose an internship that truly aligns with your goals. With a range of subjects and industries, and both Academic Research and Work Experience internships to choose from, you’ll find the internship you’ve been looking for.
Whatever programme you choose, you’ll leave your internship with the experience, skills and knowledge you need for your future. You’ll be ten steps ahead of the competition when it comes to proving your passion for the subject in university applications, explaining your interest in the sector in future internship applications, and building a career in the field that’s right for you.

Testimonials from past OxBright interns
I was pleasantly surprised that my group and I finished an academic-grade research paper within a month! Our Mentor was extremely supportive and helpful throughout the process. I would definitely recommend it to my friends!
This internship was such an insightful and engaging experience, which taught me the skills needed to become a business consultant. Every session was jam-packed with useful information and tips while also being fun and engaging.
The internship was amazing and the Mentor explained everything very well. The way I learned autonomously, had access to high quality research material, and learned to work with people I didn't know truly made the experience.
Online Internship FAQs
What are the requirements for applying to an online internship?
There are no academic requirements - the application just requires you to explain your interest in and motivation for joining your chosen internship programme. If you have any relevant experience in the subject - such as having taken an online course, read relevant books or studied the subject at school - then please mention this in your application.
For our online Research Internships, it is an advantage to have taken either an online course or an online Work Experience Internship in your chosen subject, as this will allow you to make the most of the opportunity, but this is not a requirement.
Will I get a certificate or a reference at the end of the internship?
Yes! You (and your parents or guardians) will be invited to attend an online Graduation ceremony after the end of your programme with us. You'll receive a Certificate of Achievement, and your Internship Mentor will write you a personalised Letter of Recommendation, which you can use in future internship, job or university applications.
What's the difference between a Research Internship and a Work Experience Internship?
We offer two types of internship programme:
- Research Internships, in which you'll work with an academic researcher (your Mentor) and your peers to research a cutting-edge topic in your chosen field. You'll then co-author a research paper for publication in an academic journal
- Work Experience Internships, in which you'll intern with a professional working in your chosen sector (your Host), and complete a real-life project for them. You'll be supported by a Mentor with experience in the field, and at the end of the internship you'll present your project to the Host for feedback and implementation
If you are passionate about the academic study of your chosen subject and are preparing to apply to a competitive university, we'd recommend a Research Internship.
If you're interested in exploring the reality of a career in your chosen sector and want to gain hands-on work experience, we'd recommend a Work Experience Internship. Many students join us for both.
When do the online internships take place?
Our Online Internships take place all year round. The live sessions take place on weekends, and you'll also be expected to spend a minimum of three hours a week on your internship project outside of the live sessions.
